How to pursue a debt

To begin, follow these steps:

Remember: you can also send additional emails or make phone calls to politely remind the client that they need to pay for the work you've completed for them.

 
2.

Use the late payment calculator to calculate how much interest and compensation to charge on your unpaid invoice. You can only use the calculator for business-to-business debt and we advise that you read our guidance before using it.

3.

You will need to send a Letter Before Action.

You can either use the template or instruct Markel Law to draft one on your behalf, for just £40 plus VAT.
