I specialise in employment law, an area of law that I have enjoyed since university. I studied employment law both during my law degree and Legal Practice Course. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, I completed an internship at the European Commission's Directorate-General of Employment and Social Affairs, where I worked on the European Union enlargement negotiations. I have over 14 years of practical employment law experience, having qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and joining the firm in 2006. I always work with my clients to find solutions within the litigation process that are in their best interests.
Employment Litigation - I specialise in employment litigation, predominantly representing respondents across a wide variety of sectors including retail, care, recruitment, logistics, manufacturing, hospitality, charitable and education. I also have experience representing claimants. I deal with a wide range of employment law claims including unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, TUPE, breach of contract, holiday pay, minimum wage, whistleblowing and all aspects of discrimination. The cases I deal with frequently involve multiple heads of claim and jurisdictional arguments. I deal with all aspects of case preparation including drafting ET3s, ET1s, addressing disclosure, bundle preparation and witness statements. I act for clients in Employment Tribunal claims issued in England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. I also have experience advising employers and employees on wide variety of non-contentious employment law and HR issues.
Advocacy - I conduct advocacy in the Employment Tribunal. The nature of the hearings of which I have experience include preliminary hearings for the purposes of case management; substantive preliminary hearings dealing with for example strike out applications or jurisdiction issues; and full merits hearings.
Negotiation and settlement - I have significant experience of successfully negotiating settlements and drafting the relevant agreements both during early conciliation and after litigation has commenced.
