Credit reference agencies collect information about you which is used every time you apply for any form of credit. This includes everything from a new mobile phone contract to a credit card or mortgage application. It’s important that the information held by these agencies is correct and up to date. You have the right to request the information which is held by the credit reference agencies and if you spot a mistake or something which you don’t think should be on it, you have the right to ask for your file to be changed.
