Deal or no-deal: The impact of Brexit on data protection

The UK’s independent regulator for data protection and information rights law, the Information Commissioner’s Office, has issued detailed step-by-step guidance for small businesses on how to prepare for Brexit in the event of a no-deal scenario.

Businesses will have to consider a range of questions to determine how Brexit will impact their businesses, this may include: do you receive personal data from contacts/customers in the EU or if you have an office, branch or established presence in the EU.

The ICO guidance can be found here.

In other news, the FSB has announced that it is teaming up with the Information Commissioner’s Office and Worldpay to tour the country delivering workshops on data protection. More details can be found here.
